IT’S TIME TO BREAK WITH AGEISM!

Taking action against ageism

To break with ageism, we need to challenge our beliefs and break through negative views on aging. There are solutions.

An extensive review was conducted to draw up an inventory of scholarly articles published between 2000 and 2020 to evaluate interventions to break with ageism. Two populations were specifically analyzed: youths under 18 (21 items) and health and social services students (63 items).

The purpose of this analysis was to better understand how interventions to break with ageism unfold, under what circumstances, and with what effects. The analysis documented three types of interventions: educational strategies, intergenerational contact and a combination of both.
